Hello friends, family, strangers and everyone in between!
Welcome to the beginning of an amazing journey in business ownership and game development for Round Table Studio, LLC!!
We are a small game studio based out of Richmond, KY and we are excited to build and foster a community around indie game development, technology, and business ownership in Eastern Kentucky.
We have a few exciting announcements but we just wanted to get started by saying “Hello” and introducing ourselves and what this business means to us.
First and foremost, we want to introduce you to us, to the humans behind the business: Co-founders Kyle Nestmann and Lacey Lansaw. So now, without further ado, let’s meet the developers.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. — Lao Tsu
My name is Lacey and I’m a game developer. I like to do game design, level design, UI/UX design, 3D modelling, and every now and then I’ll do some 2D animation. Outside of game development I like to play video games (shocker, right?) but I also enjoy spending time at the batting cages, playing with my dogs, watching ridiculous movies, and binge watching tv shows (new and old). I am always willing to learn new things. If I could stay in college and earn all the degrees, I totally would. Speaking of degrees, I’m super proud of the ones I have: a BA and MA in Applied Anthropology. My background in anthropology influences the work I choose to do in game development.
I want to make games that will engage players on a personal and emotional level that will result in a higher understanding of a certain concept, culture, or situation. I want to make games that “accidentally” teach the player something they didn’t know before.
Anyway, that’s what I want to work on at Round Table Studio. I want to make a positive impact and increase understanding for individuals and communities. I also just want to make games. You can check out my portfolio here or follow me on Twitter @lacey_lansaw!
This is Kyle, and I am also a game developer! My life consists of game prototyping, AI and Game programming, scrounging the internet for game development news, caffeine, and more games. On top of personal projects and Round Table Studio I am being President of my school’s game development club called “Game & Dev”, playing/analyzing commercial games, or talking to other people about how amazing games are and how everyone can make them. If I’m not around doing something dealing with game development you’ll probably find me attending classes to get my B.A. in Computer Science, watching Roosterteeth videos, or enjoying scary movies.
The whole reason I want to make games is because I see the stereotype of what a “gamer” is, and I really just want to break it. I enjoy taking the edge of what people think and expanding that edge so that they learn anything that can correlate with improving themselves in the real world, whether it is through mechanical skill, real-world knowledge, reflexive skills, emotional support, or all kinds of other ways video games can help people. I don’t know……… Games are cool.
Anyway, that’s why I wanted to create Round Table Studio! I want to help change the world and help people in the way I know best, video games. You can check out my portfolio here or follow me on Twitter @sir_kawaine!
